Which person would say not to this Portuguese giant? - The Special One touches down for talks
Jose Mourinho announces he is on the verge of being named Benfica manager after arriving in Lisbon for talks with the Portuguese club.
Mourinho is expected to replace the former coach, who was sacked following the midweek Champions League loss at home against the Azerbaijani side.
Mourinho has only been out of work for less than a month after being dismissed by the Turkish outfit.
"The club formally asked me if I was keen. What coach says no to Benfica? Certainly not I," Mourinho told reporters after landing in the city. "After I was presented with the opportunity to coach them, I didn't hesitate to say that I'm interested, that I'd want to."
Mourinho began his managerial career with Benfica in the year 2000 but managed only 10 games and departed after a dispute with the club chairman.
He then rose to prominence with Porto between 2002 and 2004, winning six trophies - among them the Champions League in the 2003-2004 season.
After leaving his native country in 2004, he has managed Chelsea, Inter Milan, Los Blancos, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Roma and Fenerbahce.
He left the Turkish club on 29 August, two days after they were knocked out from the UCL play-offs by Benfica.
Should they appoint Mourinho, he would face Chelsea in the European competition at Stamford Bridge on 30 September.
Benfica also visit Newcastle United and welcome the Spanish giants later in the league phase of the tournament.
