Streisand issued a heartfelt message in the wake of the death of the Hollywood legend in the classic film The Way We Were. He passed away at the age of 89 in the mountains of Utah.
Through social media, the performer fondly recalled about their shared experiences during the production of the 1973 hit.
“Throughout production of that beloved movie felt thrilling, deeply emotional and completely magical,” she wrote. “Our personalities contrasted greatly: he had a passion for riding; they didn’t agree with me! Still, we made an effort to understand each other as people, similar to our roles in the movie. His presence was captivating, brilliant, deeply passionate, endlessly fascinating—and an unparalleled talent. Our final meeting, when he came to lunch, we exchanged ideas on artistic expression and made plans to share our first drawings. He was truly unique and I’m so grateful to have experienced the opportunity to share the screen with him.”

The film their classic collaboration was a critical and commercial hit along with its memorable soundtrack rising to become a best-selling single and receiving Academy Award recognition.
This moving homage joins a long list from Hollywood and beyond after Redford’s death. Another legendary performer, who starred with him in several films, wrote, “A great spirit has left us. May he find peace my lovely friend.”
The acclaimed actress and activist, who appeared with Redford in four movies such as their famous comedy, said in a statement: “The news shook me this morning that his passing. I can’t stop crying. He meant a lot to me and he was a wonderful human being in every way. He stood for a vision of the country that must be preserved.”
