Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts
A comeback the Russian player won his first trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface from that period of the previous year.
The win also indicates he has won 21 victories at 21 different tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an improved service.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional championship, took control to push for a decider.
He rescued 4 early opportunities in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Suitably, he clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
